What is Cellulite?
Does everyone have cellulite? According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, cellulite is deposits of subcutaneous fat within fibrous connective tissue that give a puckered and dimpled appearance to the skin surface. The conventional approach to dealing with cellulite is diet and exercise. Cellulite can appear anywhere on your body, but most often appears on the back of your thighs, hips and buttocks.
Have you ever noticed that this approach does not work? I have! I don’t know about you, but it does not make me feel confident or beautiful to have a dimpled booty! Cellulite is not what you have been lead to believe and the conventional solution is definitely not correct. The dictionary definition is not exactly wrong, but it is very incomplete!
Why do we have it?
Putting on my Naturopath hat for a moment…. Cellulite is toxins, of any and all types, stored in our fat. Thats why we have fat. The lymph system is supposed to filter these toxins out so we do not store them as fat, but it is sluggish and not doing its job. But that is not all…In order for cellulite to appear on the outside we also need to have dehydrated facia. Dehydrated facia can come from not drinking enough pure water, sitting all day, injury, or simple lack of care.
Think of it this way, if you take a balloon (that is the toxin/fat) and stretch fishnet stockings tightly over it (that is the facia) what does it look like? Right! Cellulite!
Do you see now why diet and exercise will not eliminate cellulite from your booty?! Diet and exercise do not address the root cause of cellulite.
How to get rid of it for good!
So now that we know what it is, what do we really do about it? We all know that diet and exercise don’t work right! Diet does not detox whatever toxins are stored in the fat and exercise does not hydrate the facia. Neither helps boost our sluggish lymphatic system.
